Each year in Arizona as the calendar turns from January to February residents and visitors’ thoughts turn to morning hikes in the Sonoran Desert, the 16th hole at the WM Phoenix Open, the Super Bowl (Phoenix is the host city in 2023), and MLB Spring Training. Not to be forgotten in the middle of the month of love is Valentine’s Day. Profile Precision Extrusions employees love aluminum extrusions more than most. Let’s count the ways:
- Some say variety is the spice of life. No two days are the same. Every day engineers, designers, and entrepreneurs from all over the globe give us the opportunity to review their aluminum extrusion designs. Here are a few we are most proud of…
- We love to be challenged. We love to learn. We love to grow. Profile doesn’t shy away from the really difficult and challenging aluminum extrusion designs. How can you continue to improve if you don’t challenge yourself?
- We really do love our customers. Many of them we’ve worked with for more than 10 years.
One of the industries that consistently likes to challenge us is the medical device field. Two of our extruded aluminum tube projects are directly related to the heart. The first is a device that is synonymous with healthcare. The stethoscope. For over 15 years we’ve been making the shiny metal tubes that are part of the stethoscope your nurse, P.A., or doctor use to listen to your heartbeat and lungs.
The second device, while we hope you never need it, is a tiny part of a life saving device. A heart valve replacement system is used when one needs a heart valve replacement. We manufacture a small, thin wall aluminum tube that is part of the new valve delivery system. The tube is annealed so that the surgeon can easily bend it during the procedure. This allows them to place the valve in the exact position necessary. We worked closely with the design engineering team for over two years to perfect the dimensions, tolerances, and cosmetics of this tube. After thousands of successful valve replacements we are proud of the small part we play in improving patient lives.
