employee experience

Meet Bill Maerling, our newest employee. Bill joined Profile Precision on October 5, 2020. Bill was born in New York City and his family moved back and forth between Tempe, Arizona and the Bronx when he was young. Bill’s family permanently moved to Tempe when he entered middle school. He attended Tempe High School and is a proud Buffalo (editor’s note: were there ever any wild bison in AZ?). Bill and his wife still enjoy attending one or two fall football games at Tempe High and rooting on the professional New York teams.

How Bill Got to Arizona

Bill’s first job in high school was at a television repair shop. He started working at the front counter, graduated to assisting customers on the shop floor, and was the Parts Department Manager when he left. Bill then spent 16 years working in Industrial and Consumer Packaging.  He held sales and management roles with companies that manufactured everything from small plastic bottles, paint cans, plastic and steel drums, hazardous waste containers, blow-molded gallon bottles to injection-molded plastic pails.

Bill, Meet Aluminum

In 2005 Bill joined Hydro Aluminum in Phoenix. They specialize in large aluminum extrusions for many different industries. Tesla and Mag Flashlights are two well-known customers. Bill’s favorite project was for a planking customer. The potential customer showed up at Bill’s office out of the blue and he proceeded to tell him his story of trying to find a vendor.  He had previously been turned down by several extruders. He had to finalize his designs, order dies and over 100,000 pounds of aluminum. He needed to get the aluminum fabricated and delivered in less than eight weeks.  Everyone he had called on said it was impossible. Bill and his team at Hydro were able to make it happen.

Bill’s Bride

Bill and his wife Chris have been married for 32 years. They have three children and recently became empty nesters. Their daughter Shelby is Zookeeper and Elephant Trainer in Tucson. Their oldest son John is a First Lieutenant in the Marine Corps currently in Japan. Their youngest son Josh is a freshman at The University of Arizona and is looking to become a Naval Officer when he graduates and receives his commission. They are huge sports fans, and enjoy watching sports, hiking, cycling, golf, and road trips on their Harley. You can also find them enjoying a slice of pizza at local Ahwatukee joint Buddyz.

Bill’s First Days at PPE

What does Bill think of Profile so far? “For me at the end of the day it’s all about people. So far everyone has been friendly and very helpful. I really enjoy being able to go to work surrounded by knowledgeable colleagues willing to help you grow in order to better serve our customers.”
